Ambient Sans is an independent label dedicated to the reissue of ambient, electronic and experimental music from the 80s, 90s and 2000s. It specialises in curating undiscovered and forgotten masterpieces, presenting them in a new light for contemporary audiences. It aims to connect with listeners seeking calm, creative inspiration and a deeper, more meaningful musical experience.
To conceptualise this brand, I wanted to focus on the meaning and etymological root of ‘Ambient’ (from the Latin ambiens, -entis ‘surrounding or near’, the environment that surrounds us), and so think beyond the musical genre and graphically conceive this concept, interpreting it as an atmosphere or air that envelops and surrounds. In addition to this vision of music as something ethereal, related to atmospheric phenomena, I also wanted to think about the geographical origin of the music that they mainly reedited. This is why the graphics are mostly constructed from Japanese decorative motifs representing wind, clouds or air.
